Dr Andrew Sheridan
Clinical Neuropsychologist
Dr Andrew Sheridan initially trained in the UK as a Clinical Psychologist and Neuropsychologist and holds dual registration with AHPRA.
Clinical Practice
Andrew has a warm and compassionate style and offers therapy for children/adolescents and adults.
In child and family work his specialties are behavioural/emotional difficulties, anxiety, self-esteem, academic/school concerns, and ADHD. There is not a lower age range per se, although as a general rule of thumb younger children are likely to be seen with their parents so that the gains from therapy can be taken forward by the whole family. For mature adolescents the sessions may focus mainly on the adolescent, who may then choose for parents to join from time to time so as to focus on collaboration. Lastly parents are also welcome to seek therapy focused on the management of a child or adolescent they are worried about.
Within adult mental health, Andrew specialises in ADHD, organisation, and productivity; as well as issues pertaining to emotion regulation, burnout, and interpersonal challenges. His treatment style is influenced by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Self-Compassion.
During the rest of his working week Andrew supervises Masters-level and Registrar Psychologists in clinical practice and supervises PhD projects with a focus on ADHD. Andrew is available at Suite 306 on Thursdays.
