Psychiatry appointments

Initial consultations

A General Practitioner referral is required for all new patients seeking psychiatric assessment. The referral should outline the reason for assessment, provide current health information and symptoms, and include any relevant psychiatric or psychological reports.

The initial psychiatric assessment takes considerable time and may involve reviewing past results. Please allow 45 to 90 minutes for your initial assessment.

Psychiatrists, like other medical specialists, set their own fee schedule and there is an upfront fee for initial appointments.  While Medicare benefits are available for eligible patients with a valid referral, our fees do include an out-of-pocket amount.  Unfortunately, as a small private practice, we are unable to offer bulk billing.

Please contact our reception if you wish to know more about our fee schedule and Medicare rebates.

Follow up consultations

There is a consultation fee for follow up appointments with our psychiatrists.

A Medicare benefit also applies for follow up consultations, however eligible patients will need to ensure they have a valid referral from their general practitioner.  A referral from a general practitioner is valid for twelve months unless noted otherwise.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) assessments

Our psychiatrists undertake ADHD assessments.  The number of appointments required for an ADHD assessment can vary depending on the complexity of the patient’s presentation.  You will be provided with assessment questionnaires to be completed and if indicated, you may also be referred to a clinical neuropsychologist for a comprehensive neuropsychological assessment.

Patients wishing to trial stimulant medication will be required to do an electrocardiogram (ECG) and urine drug screen prior to medication being prescribed.

Clinical psychology appointments

Our team of clinical psychologists is dedicated to delivering high-quality patient care through a wide range of therapeutic services.

Each clinician sets their own independent fee schedule.  Clients who have a mental health care plan from their general practitioner or specialist may be eligible for Medicare rebates for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.  While our fees include an out-of-pocket expense, please note that we do not offer bulk billing due to being a small private practice.

If you have a mental health care plan, please forward it to reception@suite306.com.au and one of our friendly team members will be in touch soon.
